Maintenance Technician

A Northern Michigan Escapes Maintenance Technician helps investment property owners and homeowners in preserving and increasing the value of their investments. This candidate would participate in the day-to-day operations at all Boyne properties including NME owned buildings, the Water Street Inn, and all other privately owned rental properties throughout the Boyne City and Charlevoix area. We are looking for an autonomous, hardworking seasoned professional who is friendly and customer service oriented. While serving in this role, your responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:

  • Always represent the company’s best interest, maintain the highest level of integrity and professionalism
  • Survey buildings to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards
  • Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and mechanical systems
  • Conduct general upkeep procedures (e.g., landscaping) and other tasks as assigned (light bulb, furnace filter and battery replacements, painting, carpentry etc.)
  • Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light sockets, switches, etc.)
  • Maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality.
  • Perform minor repairs (fix locks, replace windows etc.)
  • Perform hot tub cleaning and maintenance
  • Plan, manage and participate in property renovations
  • Document and coordinate labor and material costs within our Service Order software program
  • Interact and communicate with direct reports and fellow managers to ensure consistency and completion or task/project
  • Communicate with current vendors/partners to provide the best possible repair service for properties such as electrical, heating and cooling, etc.
  • Assess control panels and electrical wiring to identify potential issues
  • Install and service appliances
  • Property maintenance including waste removal
  • Report findings and concerns to management and provide suggestions for repairs

What We’re Looking For

 

  • Education:High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ideal Experience:Minimum 1-2 years of experience as maintenance technician
    Minimum 1-2 years of experience with snow removal ideal but not necessary
  • Other:Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field will be a plus.
    Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems
    Basic understanding and experience with iPhone and MacBook are highly appreciated
    Experience with plowing and snow removal is ideal

Essential Functions

 

  • Candidate must possess the skills necessary to manage a fast-paced schedule working independently and responsibly, while observing all health and safety guidelines.
  • Candidate must be able to perform maintenance tasks of great variety such as painting, drywalling, general maintenance, etc.
  • Candidate must have a general understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other systems.
  • Candidate must have a working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices.
  • Candidate must be able to collaborate with coworkers and other professionals during property renovations

Physical Requirements

 

  • Must have good physical condition and overall strength with the ability to walk, bend, stand, sit, lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance, stretch/reach, hear, see, functional hand/finger dexterity and drive a vehicle.

Schedule

Candidate will be expected to perform the duties required by the role on a full-time basis and devote all reasonable efforts to ensure the role is adequately performed (40-45 hour per week – weekdays and weekends on average with variation based on occupancy / season)
