Welcome to our Up North Retreat!

This 3-bedroom home is the perfect place to spend your time! Located near Mt. McSauba and a short walk to the beautiful sand dunes on Lake Michigan.

Whether you are enjoying its close proximity to the sandy dunes of Lake Michigan or you are roasting marshmallows while sitting around the fire pit, you are sure to enjoy your time and relax. A company favorite, this home hosts 3 bedrooms and a beautiful, remodeled, obstruction-free bath. Enjoy your meals outside on the spacious deck, and gathered around the outdoor table, you can enjoy the secluded corner lot, yet you are within a 5-minute drive to downtown Charlevoix. This home has a private washer/dryer combo, a full kitchen, and a large living area for family gatherings and game night. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds, and the third bedroom has 2 twin beds.

This rare vacation home, so popular for up north vacation lodging, is wheelchair accessible.

Charlevoix is home to many festivals throughout the summer. Also, it's just about an hour's drive from Mackinac Island and Traverse City.

Note: Due to short-term rental and use occupancy licensing restrictions, this home has a strict maximum occupancy of 6. Please contact Northern Michigan Escapes reservations for more information and availability for this home prior to booking.

Home is comfortable in a great location near Lake Michigan and Charlevoix. Accessible entrance and within house except bathroom. Cannot wheel wheelchair into it and roll in shower has no grab bars.

Comfy cabin by the beach

We enjoyed our two week stay at the property. The cabin has been nicely decorated and works well for a family of four with one bathroom. Everything was clean and functional. The amenities and location are as described. The best feature by far is the location just across from the beach entry.

Girls Trip 2025

Cottage was older but nice inside. Outside needed some TLC. TV service wasn’t the greatest. Not sure if it was the service or user? We weren’t able to get streaming service on living room TV, only Spectrum and that was questionable. A glass enclosure for shower would help to keep water off bathroom floor. Everything else was great.

Perfect house in a prime location -charlevoix /Lake fun!

From the minute we turned onto McSauba Drive and saw our quaint house we were thrilled! The porches to relax with coffee or wine were great! The .25 mile easy walk across the street to gorgeous Lake Michigan with its clear water, sandy beach and unique large and plentiful dunes was perfect. The house has ample space for our family + daughter’s boyfriend. One con is the only 1 bathroom, but not a big deal at all. This was overshadowed by proximity to the cute town of Charlevoix with great restaurants and shopping, disc golf, biking and beaches. The owners even were very quick and helpful in finding and mailing a few items we left behind. We will surely be back!!!

Great location, great house!

The house worked out great, it was clean and its location across from the nature preserve was amazing. We went to the beach twice when we were there, walked the trails, and walked down the street to watch the sunset over the water too. Being 1.5 miles from town allowed us to relax, then go into town when we wanted.

Awesome Location

Great location - kids loved the walk to the beach, the numerous trails and the frisbee golf! Took a bit to figure out the TV but got it to work. Not sure why a room would still have a VCR in it.... GREAT STAY!

Home Away From Home

Perfect little family retreat. Great location!!!! Not to far a drive from the city bustle, and right next to a beautiful forested beach and dunes. The kids had a great time exploring outside. They also enjoyed all the board games inside. Very quiet and peaceful neighborhood. House had most of the amenities we needed. Shower was walk in. Our family may have done better with a bath tub if we were staying longer, one thing to consider with little kids, babies. The beds were springs which we haven’t slept on in awhile and were kind of hard to adjust to, not the coziest. Outside deck and yard were a good size, a few large holes on the hill may want to be wary of, especially if your kids like running up and down hills! Overall we loved it.

Bright and sunny

We had a great time during our 3 nights here. It was a short walk to the beach at the end of the road and about a 10-15 minute walk through the park to the big beach and sand dunes. The cottage was very comfortable. The wifi was occasionally good but it repeatedly dropped off while we tried to use it. The firepit was great, but the chairs near it were wobbly.

adequate house, great location

Overall we enjoyed our stay and would rent this house again. It is an older house and shows its age, both inside and out. Single bathroom is somewhat small and narrow. The best feature is its location directly across street from nature preserve with trails and path leading to nearby Lake Michigan. There is also a nice resting area at the end of the dead end street with two benches.

Awesome property

The property on Mcsauba was amazing. We used the large property and fire pit, and love to be in walking distance from trails and Lake Michigan. Plenty of room to park our boat and trailer. Kitchen and bedrooms were nice.

Peaceful getaway!

We really enjoyed our stay in this cute little house. It was the perfect size for our family of four. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. The beach view at the end of the road offered a great place for some mediation time, while the dunes beach- just about 7 minutes walk to the water- was great for family time. The downtown of Charlevoix was easily accessible for jet ski rentals and evening dinners. We opened the windows and french doors and used the ceiling fan, and we didn't miss the air conditioning. We would definitely stay here again!

McSauba Cottage

We enjoyed our stay in beautiful CHX! The cottage on Mt. McSauba Rd. was terrific. It is nestled in a peaceful location, just steps from the woods, sand dunes, and Lake Michigan beach access. Our teenagers liked biking into town daily and having bonfires at night. Ruth (Northern Mich. Escapes) met us at the house and showed us everything we needed to know. She was very responsive.
